The 54th Golden Horse Awards will take place on November 25h in Taipei. Yesterday the nominations were announced. The Lifetime Achievement Award will go to TOUCH OF ZEN's internationally renowned, two time Golden Horse Best Actress Hsu Feng. The Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year will be Hu Ding-Yi.

This year's nominated films were mainly Taiwan films. Among them THE GREAT BUDDHA + received the most nominations with ten. LOVE EDUCATION, THE BOLD, THE CORRUPT AND THE BEAUTIFUL and SEE YOU TOMORROW each had seven. Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo) with SEE YOU TOMORROW received his first Best Actor nomination. He would compete against Chuang Kai-hsun, Huang Bo, Tian Zhuangzhuang and Tu Men. SEE YOU TOMORROW also was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction, Best Makeup & Costume Design, and Best Original Film Song. This was Gum Sng Mo's first Golden Horse acting nomination, he was previously nominated for Best Original Film Song with PERHAPS LOVE. After learning about his nomination, Gum Sing Mo responded, "Thank you! Thank you very much!"

Best Actress nominees included Kara Wai Ying Hung, Shu Qi, Sylvia Chang, Vicky Chen and Yin Shin. Nominated with THE BOLD, THE CORRUPT, AND THE BEAUTIFUL, Siu Hung was happy and surprised to learn about her nomination. "Very happy, bu also very surprised. I never thought that I would be nominated because no one told me about the Golden Horse Award application. I didn't know when the nominations were to be announced either." She said that the film was made in Taiwan early in the year. At the time she had no expectation. She has not made any film for an award, as she would only do her best. How confident was she? She humbly said that she dared not think about it. "Because the competition is strong. Earlier I was on the Taipei Film Festival jury. I watched all four nominated films. Everyone performed very well, very powerfully. (Who is the biggest rival?) Everyone is. Everyone's taste is different, it's very hard to guess. However I have always had confidence in myself, 1/5 to win an award. Let it be, don't be so nervous. I will attend."

Best Supporting Actor nominees were OUR TIME WILL COME's Tony Leung Ka Fai, Mason Lee, Lei Jianyin, Leon Dai and Bamboo Chen; as for Best Supporting Actress, OUR TIME WILL COME's Deanie Ip Tak Han, Wu Yanshu, Chen Shiang Chyi, Vicky Chen and Tiffany Hsu Wei-Ning will compete.

Sammo Hung Kam Bo with PARADOX received a Golden Horse Best Action Choreography nomination, his third. "All three nominations were with Director Wilson Yip (Wa Shun). Thank you for you love Golden Horse Award and thank you everyone for liking this film!"

[2017.10.02] ANDY LAU REMAKES HEART OF THE WANDERER
Posted by: raymond_lam_tvb69 - 10-03-2017, 02:51 AM - Forum: Hong Kong Entertainment News - No Replies

courtesy of singtao.com
Andy Lau Tak Wa for CHASING THE DRAGON (JUI LUNG) remade the hit FROM THE HEART OF A WANDERER (LONG JI SUM SING) and made a music video with film footage. In the film Crippled Ho and Lui Lok competed in the word of money and power. Wa Jai said about their relationship, "They have never seen each other as friends, but in old age when they thought back on some important events and people they realized tha they were real friends. They were opponents, as well as colleagues. This was also what was delicate about their relationship." The biggest difference between the two was Lui Lok saw himself as the most important. In the end he sensed that love, family, friendship were the most important. Power and money were secondary. Thus when he foresaw the danger that would affect his family, he was determined to leave all the power he had and left Hong Kong. Wa Jai thought that FROM THE HEART OF THE WANDERER was coincidentally in the same vain as the film's theme of "Life and death are destined, fame and fortunate are up to Heaven" and thus he used the song to promote the film.

Hong Kong mob films once were all the rage in the 70s and the 80s Hong Kong film industry. The film company hoped that CHASING THE DRAGON would be able to start a new trend for Hong Kong mob films. Donnie Yen Chi Tan felt that back then Lau Tak Wa was the on screen symbol of this genre. "He had more mob film experience than me. This time I was able to learn from him, especially how he performed the role of Lui Lok. Our dramatic scene rehearsals also resembled the action scenes. We sparred and interacted.

Artist Dayo Wong Tze Wah for his new film played the famous pirate Cheung Bo Jai. In the trailer released yesterday, he created freestyle Taishan dialect to add to the comedy of the character. "My Cheung Bo Jai is a very happy mad man. In order to make himself happy he can thoroughly abuse those around him. He is very dominant." He also said that he was not afraid that the audience would compare him to PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEANS' Johnny Depp. Fala Chen also let go of her image for the film as he dark, scarred and stained tooth pirate, which was quite a departure.

The new director Tam Wai Ching directed, Carina Lau Ka Ling produced for hte first time and starred with Ng Siu Hin, Tse Kwan Ho, Stephen Tung Wai, Jennifer Yu Heung Yi in the second "First Feature Film Initiative" winner IN YOUR DREAMS (YI CHING CHUN DIK MING YI) yesterday was announced as the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival opening film and competition selection. The film will premiere on the opening night on October 31st.

Director Tam Wai Ching's first film as a director was chosen for the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival opening film and competition. She admitted that she felt happy but a little surprised. "Thank you to the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival for giving this opportunity to us, thank you to them for supporting domestic film and new director. As a new director I feel very honored that a film festival selected my film. I have to thank people who have helped this film, especially producer Ka Ling."

Ka Ling was very happy to learn that the film was chosen for the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2017 opening film. She hoped that everyone would be able to support this sincere film when it will be released in January 2018.

Ng Siu Hin would be participating in his second Hong Kong Asian Film Festival but still felt excited. "Of course I feel happy, in particular this time in the film I was able to have so many scenes and relationship with Sister Ka Ling. I myself look forward to watching this film on the big screen. I hope everyone would support it." He also joked, "Although lately I have been busy with a television series production, I would also fully prepare to dress up for the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival opening ceremony, hopefully I would be cool and handsome to match Sister Ka Ling!"

[2017.10.27] ANDY LAU ASKS WONG JING FOR AN EXTENDED VERSION

The film CHASING THE DRAGON (JUI LUNG) held a premiere two nights ago. Actors Andy Lau Tak Wa, Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Felix Wong Yat Wa, Tong Chun Yip and Niki Chow Lai Kei attended. Even the first generation "Crippled Ho" Ray Lui Leung Wai showed his support. Wong Yat Wa said that CHASING THE DRAGON lost an hour after editing. The most regrettable was losing his rooftop scene with Wa Jai. Producer Chi Tan was not sure how much was cut. Wa Jai hoped that a good reaction would make director Wong Jing release an extended DVD.

Today is Wa Jai's 56th birthday. The film company brought a cake and fans brought a birthday bun. Fans even sang Happy Birthday to their idol. Wa Jai made a birthday wish when he cut the cake. "I wish for CHASING THE DRAGON to be a big box office hit, Wong Jing would continue to ask me to make movies!" Wa Jai even blew kisses to fans in a show of appreciation.

As for how he would celebrate his birthday, Wa Jai said nothing special. He would celebrate it with his family. Now he would rarely go away for vacation. Earlier the rehabilitation video that he showed at a fan club event was leaked. He said, "Each fan gathering would have someone undercover, but in the end it's something to be happy about!" In the video he was bed ridden from the injury. His 5 year old daughter was washing his feet, which was very touching. Wa Jai said, "Everyone saw it, I don't have to say any more!" His wife also waited for the day when he could move. Wa Jai said, "Pay attention to their reports!"

Wong Yat Wa said that after editing CHASING THE DRAGON lost a hour. Yen Chi Tan said that he had no idea how much was cut, but they put their hearts into each scene so he would feel sorry. Wa Jai guessed that each actor lost about 20% of their roles. With good reaction he would ask Wong Jing to release an extended DVD. Why not divide the film into two parts? Wa Jai joked that everyone's salary only covered one film.

Yen Chi Tan said that this time he took very little for salary and invited friend Lui Leung Wai to the premiere. He admitted that he studied Lui Leung Wai's first generation "Crippled Ho". He said, "He and I are old pals, he didn't deliberately give me any pressure. He believed that I would find my way. Copying would be meaningless since different actors would have different methods of performing!" Was he confident about beating Wu Jing's WOLF WARRIOR 2? Chi Tan answered, "I don't need to say beating anything, everyone wants Chinese film to be good. Viewers can have more than one choice, one movie during the holiday would be very boring!"

Wong Yat Wa worked with Lau Tak Wa, Michael Miu Kiu Wai and Tong Chun Yip on BROTHERS ten years ago. This time they unfortunately did not share any scene together, but he still had scenes with Ah Tong and Wa Jai. He learned that a hour was cut from the film, the most regrettable was losing his rooftop scene with Wa Jai.

Ah Tong also noticed during voice work that his role was reduced by 1/3. He attended the premiere with his very all twin sons. He said that earlier he met Wong Yat Wa's daughter Adrian Wong Chi Ching, who looked a lot like Mommy Leung Kit Wa. As for Wa Jai's daughter, Tong Chun Yip joked that she was very mysterious and under heavy protection and his daughter was still little. His niece Roxanne Tong Lok Man and Joey Law Tin Yu were rumored to be living together. He said, "I rarely see her, and I can't care too much. I live with my sons and we don't communicate all that much either. Nowdays young people don't even say more than two phrases. My children are like that. Maybe we learned to be humble because we didn't have much education and would listen to others. Now everyone have more education than me. The times are really different!"

Chow Lai Kei in the film played "Crippled Ho's" wife. She said that at firs she thought that playing a country girl would be very comfortable. She never thought that she would be in the water on the coldest days in Hong Kong, she even had to drown. Recently she has been busy with her new TVB series and would have many scenes with Roger Kwok Chu On. She would even have a dance scene. Later they would shoot in Prague.

[2017.09.27] ALEX FONG LIK SUN WAS DISCRIMINATED FOR HIS GOOD LOOKS?

The film OUR DAYS IN 6E (NGOR MOON DIK 6E BAN) two nights ago held a special charity screening. Actors Alex Fong Lik Sun, Eric Suen Yiu Wai, Shirley Chan Yan Yin, Lemon Yip Chi Yu, Rachel Chau Ka Lei, Sharon Luk Sze Wan and Cheung Kwok Keung attended. Siu Fong in the film played a sponsor who sponsored students in a competition. He did not run into any school violence while at school but he was discriminated against. He joked, "For example I was discriminated against for being more handsome than others and swimming faster than others. I was also discriminated agains when I did bad in school."

Speaking of online rumor about Siu Fong savng up to wed former girlfriend Stephy Tang Lai Yun in 2018, he admitted that he noticed the report but he said that not even 10% of it was true. Thus no media asked him to respond after it came out because everyone knew it was "fake news". Siu Fong said, "Some only read the headline and not the content. Still many people congratulated me, only no one asked me to confirm." Perhaps people online could tell it was fake right away. He said, "Maybe they are certain that I won't get back together again. Maybe I really would get married in 2018!" He stressed that he had to save money, since any wedding would require money. "However I wouldn't get back together again!"

Yip Chi Yu played a class teacher, but she joked that she would like to play the school beauty more; Chau Ka Lei played a discipline mistress. She had to put thought into her make up and manner of speech, as her performance would be more mature. Ka Lei said that this time she had a chance to work with her idol Suen Yiu Wai, but unfortunately they did not have any intimate scene together. The director originally arranged for her to kiss Ricky Fan Chun Fung, but he said that his wife Charmaine Li Si Yan was on the set. In the end she still managed to keep her first on screen kiss intact.

[2017.09.25] LIN MIN-CHEN IS AFRAID OF MAKING THE STUNT MAN IMPOTENT

To be TOP FEMALE FORCE, Lin Min-Chen injures her toe and Jeana Ho bruises her calf

Jeana Ho Pui Yu, Lin Min-Chen, Hidy Yu Hiu Tung and Jade Leung Jung two nights ago attended the film TOP FEMALE FORCE (LAT GAING BA WONG FA 2 BUT YI JI JIN) wrap banquet in Macau. The group of pretty girls were all scarred up for the movie, the entire film even used over 4,000 bullets as the production was rather realistic! Earlier injuring her toe during training, Lin Min-Chen said that her condition has already improved a lot. This time the most memorable was working with the stunt team. "In one scene I had to flip backward then grab the stunt man's neck, we then would flip together. I was very afraid of making him impotent! Luckily he's male, haha!" She also admitted that because the training schedule was tight, a lot of the stunt performance were less than perfect but added even more realism. "We finished an impossible mission and felt very satisfied." Playing a cop for the first time, Hidy revealed that she applied for the police force but gave up at the last minute.

Jeana had a big bruise on her right calf. She described herself as "injured all over". How did her boyfriend Philip Yung Tsz Kwong react? She said, "He isn't in Hong Kong. He just asked me, 'You guys fight pretty hard?'" She revealed that the shoot was rather stressful. She hid in the mobile bathroom and cried. "After the wrap I cried, I hoped the release the film would perform well and have a celebration! I originally wanted to put up some bullet shells for keep sake, luckily the crew yelled at me. I didn't know it was illegal!" She also said that she would first rest for two weeks. "I have to pick up the piece to look like a person again!" She would then work on her boyfriend's new film.

[2017.09.25] TIFFANY HSU HAS NOT HAD A FULL MEAL IN 35 DAYS

Tiffany Hsu says that she is emotionally exhausted from the film
Andrew Lam grabs Tiffany Hsu's hand, refuses to let go and pretends to kiss it
courtesy of on.cc
Taiwan star Tiffany Hsu two nights ago attended her new film audience appreciation event. She was rather pleased that the film made over HK$ 1 million in 3 days. She said that she was emotional exhausted from the shoot and thus would not participate in the next film. She even "complained" that the director Ching Wei-Hao was rather deranged, asking her to look bony in the film. Thus she lost 4 kilograms. During the 35 day shoot she did not have a full meal. When others ate she could only hide in a corner.

Her friend Ruby Lin said that she never introduced a guy to her because no one could compare to her husband Wallace Huo. Tiffany Hsu said, "It doesn't matter, she really is very lucky. Her husband treats her very well. When we are together we see each other pleasantly, we don't care who is introducing who. I am in no hurry anyway. (What are you looking for?) When I get the feeling then it's the right one, I have to have a guy with shoulders." Andrew Lam Man Chung appeared as a surprise guest, praised Tiffany Hsu's acting and hoped that they would have a chance to work together. When they shook hand he even pretended to kiss it.
