[2017.09.28] ALEX FONG LIK SUN DOES NOT WANT TO BE A SLAVE

Director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) excelled in romantic films as he successfully made Alex Fong Lik Sun and Stephy Tang Lai Yun into a silver screen couple. Unfortunately Siu Fong and Stephy's ten year relationship ended in break up. In the new film NEVER TOO LATE (OI CHING LO DAI SAU) the lead actor remained Siu Fong but "Ah Bo" was switched to new comer Cecilia So Lai Shan.

Siu Fong in the film was Samantha Ko Hoi Ling's slave beast. In one scene he had to let Ko Ling slap him on the busy streets of Causeway Bay, which was very awkward for him. He said, "Afer so many years of making movies, I have never been slapped so many times. I even had to kneel. Although it was in a flash, it took several takes. It was very embarrassing." He luckily has never been slapped by a girlfriend like that in real life.

Siu Fong also revealed that some friends were slave beasts and would not resist at all when hit. He said, "I wouldn't look down on this type of people because many are voluntary. However I am not a sadomaschoist, I wouldn't be with a girl with a strong desire to possess. (Did you break up because of this reason?) Stephy isn't a 'master'. (Because you were too chauvinistic?) I am a warm, sweet guy."

Working with Siu Fong for the first time, So Lai Shan admitted that Siu Fong was a warm guy. She said that during the shoot he was very attentive to her. Did Siu Fong want to pursue her? Siu Fong said, "She already has a boyfriend. I never take someone else's, unlike she is lying to me. If you don't know you aren't guilty. People say I am very serious, I don't flirt with girls." So Lai Shan said that Siu Fong only liked to chat.

Being single for a long time, Siu Fong also said that he did not want to date. He felt that he was very free not to have to tell anyone where he was. Was the previous relationship too tight of a bond? He denied that. "No, I was responsible with the previous relationship. I was willing, but now I enjoy work." Siu Fong also said that he was a romantic, he still had expectation for love and longed for love at first sight. He liked to set up everything himself so he would not accept advances from girls. So Lai Shan said that she planned to spend the Mid Autumn Festival with her family, because her boyfriend was very busy she did not know whether they would spend it together.

[2017.09.28] ANDY LAU REPRISES HIS ROLE WITH LIFE EXPERIENCE
Posted by: raymond_lam_tvb69 - 10-03-2017, 02:51 AM - Forum: Hong Kong Entertainment News - No Replies

Jason Kwan says CHASING THE DRAGON cannot be without Andy Lau's character so he splits the film with Donnie Yen
courtesy of mingpao.com
Over 20 years, the film TO BE NUMBER ONE and LEE ROCK because Hong Kong biography film legends. Now Wong Jing and director Jason Kwan Chi Yiu directed CHASING THE DRAGON (JUI LUNG) remade two legendary figures "Crippled Ho" and "Lui Lok"'s stories. Director Kwan said that when he asked Wa Jai to reprise the role, he did no ask him to play it like he did 25 years ago. He wrote character personality and image in the script for him. He with his life experience explored and created this character without imitating his previous performance.

Wa Jai also admitted that he did not deliberately impersonate his previous performance but the method was the same. Because the role was the same in both films, he created them himself and had certain knowledge. This time in the film some lines from the previous film were used for him to repeat again, but Wa Jai said, "The previous one was on the surface and not in depth because at the time I was only 20 or 30. Now I am already 50, I feel that I must have seen more and have more calmness. The previous one was more like an image!" Wa Jai said that the character was someone who brought balance to an era, with a little temper in his personality he still changed with the times. He had to give up some stuff. Wa Jai said, "Playing the role again 20 some years later, I felt that I kept depth before. Now I can have a little more!" Did he watch his previous film before the performance? Wa Jai said, "People have asked me that, but Lee Rock never left. Actually this performance whether with the image or the hairstyle, everything was the same as before. The age was divided with Hawaiian shirts, suits and later three piece suits!"

This time in the film Donnie Yen Chi Tan's "Crippled Ho" was the main plot. Wa Jai felt that Chi Tan's performance was different from the first generation "Crippled Ho" Ray Lui Leung Wai. This was the difference was the era. He said tha Ah Lui's performance was more GODFATHER like, Chi Tan's truly leaned toward the 70s. His apperance, hairstyle and accessories were packaged into another atmosphere. The Kowloon Walled City, and "his generation" of actors like Felix Wong Yat Wa and Kent Cheng Juk Si. He said, "The feeling was that nostalgia, you can smell it. It really is very special. I also congratulate Brother Jing, finally I go him some good word of mouth. This time he truly is serious. The Hong Kong film heroic duo and era film, even biography film's flavors are still here!"

Wa Jai back then played the role from age 20 to 70. This time it was delayed until 30 something when he became the chief Chinese captain. Was he no longer confident about playing 20 something again? Wa Jai laughed, "They didn't write it for me! Other people may not be able to, I can!" He also admitted that he had to pretend to be mature to play the role. Back then he performed without aging make up. Now his age has already reached the middle spot and indeed it would be a little awkward. Thus he still had to dye his hair black! Wa Jai revealed that this time he was a guest star but he worked on over 30 units of scenes. He went from the originally 1/3 to 2/3 and became the lead. It was also more like a heroic duo film. Thus Wong Jing had to compensate him a lot more. He joked, "Let's see how well this film sells, if well then I should get a bonus!" However Wa Jai said that Chi Tan still had the most scenes. He also had a lot of scenes with Chi Tan. At the opening and the ending they saved each other at the Kowloon Walled City, both had a series of action stunts. He said, "Of course Chi Tan had more action, but his performance this time was decent as well!" Director Kwan added that this was not a kung fu film so it was thug fights. Seeing Wa Jai getting hurt during a gun fight he felt bad for him. Speakng of Wa Jai not longer working with horses after his accident, would he still work on fight scenes? Wa Jai said that he would not be able to fight from the beginning to the end like he did in MAGIC CRYSTAL when he was young, because it would be too dangerous. Instead he could still accept stunts like in SHOCK WAVE and FIRESTORM.

Two giant screen televisions played Tsang King Cheung's videos. Outside were two oil painting of Tsang King Cheung. Directors Lau Wai Keung, Cheung Yuen Ting and Law Kai Yui arrived early to help and represented the funeral committee at the media interview.

Lau Wai Keung said that he and Tsang King Cheung worked together for over 20 years and on many films. He was responsible for defense. "Because post production was usually very rushed, he had a very hard time. He was responsible for supporting the entire post production. Tsang King Cheung would spend the money that he made on new equipment. Very few people have this type of spirt. The return isn't right, but he kept buying new equipment. The film industry thus respected him very much." Was the passing of Tsang King Cheung a huge loss to the film industry? Lau Wai Keung said, "It is a huge loss, he was a very important talent. In sound effects no one as powerful as he was would appear." Lau Wai Keung also revealed that Tsang King Cheung imported many sound effect technicians and had enormous contribution to film sound design.

Cheung Yuen Ting said that the passing of Tsang King Cheung was an irreversible loss, 20 years ago he already imported computer editing and he never cared about money. He would spend 5 to 6 million on equipment. If he spent it on property he would become a land baron. In addition, Peter Chan Ho Sun, Ting Yu, Joe Cheung Tung Cho, Benny Chan Muk Sing, Daneil Lam Siu Ming and Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung paid their respect in person. Tsang Kwok Cheung said that when he started he spent many nights at Tsang King Cheung's post production company and saw how serious he worked. He felt that he was an elder well worth learning from.

Alex Fong Lik Sun jokes that the sexy Cecilia So changes his mind
Samantha Ko gets hit by a guy for the first time and keeps tearing up after
courtesy of mingpao.com
The film NEVER TOO LATE (OI CHING LO DAI SAU) two nights ago held a premiere. Actors Alex Fong Lik Sun, Cecilia So Lai Shan, Samantha Ko Hoi Ning, Andrew Yuen Man Kit and Jacquelin Chong Sze Man attended. Timmy Hung Tin Ming, Patrick Tang Kin Won and Sukie Shek Wing Lei showed the support.

Siu Fong kept flirting with So Lai Shan jokingly. He even praised her for being a big girl now and suddenly had a little more femininity. So Lai Shan said that she chose what she wore, but she showed it to her boyfriend. He thought it was healthy but not too sexy. Siu Fong completely changed his mind about So Lai Shan and joked about her cleavage, "Would you take this type of healthy route more? You can go longer and further!"

Siu Fong and So Lai Shan in the film did not have a lot of intimate scenes in the film. He said that he was 12 years or one Chinese astrological cycle older than her, so he did not want to be scolded online. He did not ask the director for more intimate scene, but now he is starting to regret that. So Lai Shan smartly praised Siu Fong for being well maintained and their age difference was not too bad. Aside from them, Yuen Man Kit was also born on the Year of the Monkey. Siu Fong could not help but praise Yuen Man Kit, "We are all well maintained, like our age was frozen at 30 something!"

Siu Fong in the film knelt in the streets of Causeway Bay as Ko Hoi Ning slapped him 19 times. Siu Fong admitted that he has never been slapped before so it felt very awkward. Ko Hoi Ning also said that having to take a slap in return from him was also very awkward. "I have never been hit before. When I hit him we used positioning, but I had to take one from him! My head snapped to one side and my hair flew, even my face was swollen!"

The Juno Mak Chun Lung directed police film SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT (FUNG LAM FOR SHAN) yesterday held a press conference in Huizhou. Sean Lau Ching Wan, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Gao Yuanyuan, Michelle Wai Sze Nga and Nikki Jiang Peiyao attended. They not only shared their production experience but also character stills and production highlight. Ching Wan admitted that while working with Juno everyday was a surprise, because he had very unique demands and determination.

A two minute video was shown. The cast included Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo), Louis Koo Tin Lok, Nina Paw (Bau Hei Jing), Lo Hoi Pang and Wilson Lam Chun Yin. The team even built a 1:1 scale Causeway Bay street set in Huizhou and created a snowing effect.

Directing again after RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI), Juno said that earlier when he attended the Venice Film Festival he already had the idea for the script. He spent 5 years on its creation. He said that the film had many hard to imagine scenes. Because some effects would be difficult to shoot at the actual Hong Kong location like snow in Causeway Bay, he had to build a 1:1 scale Causeway Bay set in Huizhou. The production cost reportedly reached HK$ 150 million. Juno only revealed that the production cost exceeded HK$ 100 million and kept the actual figure confidential.

Was the large cast hard to control? Juno said that it was not. Instead the hardest was the process of forming the cast, which took two years. He also mentioned that he personally met with Takeshi Kaneshiro in Tokyo and Gao Yuanyuan in Beijing about the flm. Playng a psychologist in the film, Gao Yuanyuan has played such a character before and soon after getting the script she decided to take the role. He also praised that every actor did very well and met his demands. SONS was a co-production. Juno pointed ou that the script did not change much. He went with his own creative direction. Now the film is still in production, he hoped to finish it within this year.

Lau Ching Wa on the stage joked that at first he thought the movie was a costume film. During the costume fitting he had to wear a thick fur coat and thought that they had to shoot in Harbin. He never thought that the shoot would be in the summer in Hong Kong and Huizhou, and felt very hot. Ching Wan revealed in the film had a lot of gun fighs. Speaking of working with Mak Chun Lung, he said that Juno was very polite and very certan about the characters because he wrote the script. While working with him everyday was a surprise, because he had very unique demands and determination. However he would very kindly explain his view on the character. Was he able to change his lines? Ching Wan said, "When I need to I would mention it. He would accept suggestions but in the end Juno would insist on his views."

Leung Ka Fai and Gao Yuanyuan in the film played psychology experts who served the police force. With Gao Yuanyuan he had a delicate relationship that could be either friend or foe. Yeserday they shared the sage. Ka Fa said that he worked with Gao Yuanyuan for the first time on a movie but they met each other at an auction before. Ka Fai said that at the time he sat next to Yuanyuan and she was like a goddess. Gao Yuanyuan said that at the time she was wearing less and the venue was colder. Ka Fai took off his jacket and covered her with it, which made her feel very warm.

Ka Fai said ha Gao Yuanyuan was "god class" that was indescribable and praised how hard she worked. Gao Yuanyuan in the film performed in Cantonese. During the shoot she did not have too many bad takes. Because later she would have post production voice work, she could just lip sych. She said that she also studied with a teacher and later he keep working on it.

Ka Fai revealed that in the film he had a "disfigured" look. Each time he took over 3 and a half hour to put on and a hour to remove it. In the summer he had to wear a big coat for the snow scene. However he said that nothing was hard for him. Working with Juno for the first time, Ka Fai stated that he was very moved. "It is rare for Hong Kong to have a new director with such sincerity, the future of Hong Kong film is saved. Hong Kong film fell because many positions during the golden age didn't give any chance for a second team to come up." Gao Yuanyuan praised Juno as polite and friendly. He was also very attentive. When he saw the actors in heavy clothing for the shoot, he too would put one on to keep everyone company.

Wai Sze Nga said that this was her first action film and first time shooting a real gun. In one scene she had to jump on Brother Ka Fai's back to chase somone. She was afraid that she would hurt Brother Ka Fai and aggravated his old injuries, but he insisted on performing himself. Before hand he also told her to jump with all her might. She found his professionalism very admirable. Jiang Peiyao was also making her first action film, before the shoot she needed stunt training and suffered a lot.

[2017.09.29] SIMON YAM IS A GOOD PROPERTY OWNER

Carina Lau says finding financing is the hardest part of a film production

Natalie Tong does not give chewing gum to Philip Keung for their kiss scene
courtesy of mingpao.com
The Lunar New Year film MOTHER IN LAW VS. SON IN LAW (NGOR DIK CHING DIK NUI SAI) yesterday worked on a Lunar New Year dragon and lion dance at the Tai Po Lam Village Wishing Tree. Actors Carina Lau Ka Ling, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Vincy Chan (Wing Yi), Sherman Chung Shu Man, Philip Keung Ho Man, Natalie Tong Sze Wing and Mak Ling Ling participated.

Yet yesterday under the heat, Yam Tat Wa came to the shoot at 6AM. Although he only wore a tee shirt he was still drenched in sweat. He said that he almost had to dress once a hour. By the afternoon he already changed ten shirts. Lau Ka Ling remained calm despite being in a long sleeve top. Brother Wa said, "With the goddess here I am especially passionate. She is making me sweat. She is way too hot!" Ka Ling said, "When I worked on Tsui Hark's film in Beijing it was no small matter either. That is how making a movie is, you don't get to complain!"

Brother Wa in the film played a "chop shop king". Later due to Ka Ling's goddess influence he became good. After remodeling the chop shop he rented the place to young people for two bucks. The film was very positive. He also believed that filmmaking would one day come true! He even said that if he had money he too would rent cheap for people to do business. Reporters joked that with all his properties around the world he was already rich. Brother Wa stated, "I have rented to people cheap! Otherwise they wouldn't still rent from me. Even the store front was rented for over 10 years, which proved that I am a good owner!" Would Ka Ling have properties all over the world like Brother Wa? Brother Wa chimed in, "She could take 30 of mine with one of hers!" Ka Ling admitted that she and Brother Wa have studied property investment, but they had different ideas. She felt that more properties would instead be more burdenes. She would have to find people to live in them and hire people, even pay management fee, maintenance fee, all of which were rather troublesome. As she grew, her thinking was changing too. Now investment would be riskier so she would choose to be in business.

Speaking of many actors and singers as guest stars in this film, each one has asked Ka Ling for a photo. Ka Ling said, "The director has the most and often put them on social media. However this time has been the most enjoyable. I ran into many former colleagues and old friends!" Brother Wa agreed, "This time I saw many former TVB colleagues and many new singers. Making one movie felt like making 50, it really has been very joyous!"

The Lau Ka Ling produced for the first time and starred, Ng Siu Hin, Tse Kwan Ho and Jennifer Yu Heung Yi starred film IN YOUR DREAMS (YI CHING CHUN DIK MING YI) was seleced to be the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2017's opening film and competition. Ka Ling admitted that it was very encouraging because she felt that now making a movie is very hard. Finding an investor was very difficult, the lack of money made every step uneasy. Once the financing was in place naturally professionals would participate. For this film she did not take a salary. William Chang Suk Ping also did not charge her for helping with the editing. Even the cinematographer was on a volunteer basis. She said, "Hong Kong has the technical personnel, but due to market accommodation now they have to make co-productions. However good movies would always have an audience. How else would there be a 5.6 billion box office!" Brother Wa agreed, "As long as the subject is fresh, Hong Kong film would always have their own uniqueness!"

Philip Keung Ho Man in MOTHER IN LAW VS. SON IN LAW (NGOR DIK CHING DIK NUI SAI) played Simon Yam Tat Wa's nemesis since childhood but was often bullied by Brother Wa. Brother Wa even won over the goddess that they both liked. Natalie Tong Sze Wing played Brother Wa's assistant, who handled the good and the bad for him.

Today they worked together for the first time and even had an intimate kiss scene. They even had to have the instant click first love feelng. Yet today the shoot took place under the blazing sun in the Lam Village in Tai Po. Hak Jai joked that he knew Sze Wing was some more resistent of her co-stars and would give them chewing gum. Luckily that day she did not give him any. Sze Wing awkwardly laughed, "Usually the co-stars are great, bu some would get chewing gums. I gave them to (Benjamin) Yuen Wai Ho because he likes coffee too much and forgets that he has the coffee stench!" Did she have any bad experience with a co-star before? Sze Wing said, "Actually I would make some preparation before any intimate scene. This time we start with a kiss scene, but Hak Jai is pretty good!" Hak Jai said, "Great!"

Earlier for Kristal Tin Yui Nei's birthday, Sze Wing made her a cake. The theme was Super Woman because Ah Tin at work and among her friends was indeed Super Woman.

Francis Ng Chun Yu, Wu Tsz Tung, Ken Wong Tak Bun, Poon Chan Leung and Jennifer Yu Heung Yi yesterday worked on a dragon boat location shoot at the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association for their film MAN SHUI CHIN SHAN JUNG WAN. Chun Yu revealed that he has already shot a week of dragon boat race scenes and he was well tanned. For his first dragon boat race, he even had to sit at the front of the boat. Earlier he even rowed from Shatin Town Hall to Shek Mun. Although it took 20 minutes, he arrived earlier than those on four wheels. Chun Yu felt that he had a knack for dragon boat and did not need any special training.

Speaking of his son Feynman's 9th birthday, Chun Yu held a party for him. He said that every year he would celebrate with his son, this year he bought some stuff to eat at home and invited his son's friends. This year's party theme was WUKONG. Chun Yu said that his son used to like SESAME STREET, then TOY STORY, this year he likes WUKONG. All were a part of his emotional journey. His wife rarely appeared in public. This time his wife's photo was posed online. Chun Yu admitted that his family put it online. Even if he minded he could not do anything.

Yu Heung Yi in the film played a dragon boat coach and often had to yell at the team, even Chun Yu, Wong Tak Bun and Poon Chan Leung. As soon as the camera stopped she would apologize, but she already praised the elders for treating her very well. They were afraid that she would get a tan and asked the crew to help with umbrellas. She also revealed that she and one of the elders had an ambiguous scene.

Wu Tsz Tung before the dragon boat race also had training. He also praised the elders for their extra care. Although each looked very cool, they were constantly joking and made the atmosphere very harmonious. His girlfriend Stephanie Au Hoi Shun earlier won a gold medal a a swim meet. Tsz Tung said that last night his girlfriend had another meet and he would show his support. Yet due to work he could only make it up to her later with a celebration.
